The doctor was really a conductor, slowing up his arms and the band and my heart was beating stronger As strong as anyone who would go to live on long who's been worried all along about the murmurs; the stirrings, rumours, words that make us nervous I never heard somebody speak so clear. Laughing off my worst fears By talking 'bout the weather... And the city was really just a chapter, merely just a phase with its edges I like to lie here, thankful for my fingers, stars through the branches, camped out in the open with no corners I used to get so angry with numbers but now I'm only calculating rain. See now how the clouds come Bearing all my futures The forecast you know, is forecasting snow. Now he is always, always with those eyes wide frozen The Night of the Black Dog when he saw it You see I didn't even see it I just saw him see it through those trees and I was running screaming shouting "Help me!" but he was wide and frozen in the moonlight Now I only have that memory of him. Despite everything that's happened since. He's still frozen in that winter. The forecast you know, is forecasting snow. Caught now, sunset at the edge with our belongings scattered over leaves and winter's coming We came as far as anyone who ever had a heart, ever tried to make a start to conquer timing You was only waiting and mending I was biding time but anyone can say it, anyone can say it, everybody's singing about the sea but no one's sailing Fading into darkness It was always in the autumn Running down the avenue..., The forecast you know is forecast for snow

Changeling 03:31
You tried your best and you didn't cry You made your mind up so did I and always changing always believing it's something we're meant to do. If change is always such a fight If this is where we draw the line I always say that I feel a stone in this perfectly heart-shaped thing a Changeling... Feel and the stars come out and the stars come out from the ceiling Feel and you feel, feel with me. So count to ten I'll turn out the light Make a wish but make it right cos don't you feel like this star has already really died? a Changeling... Feel and the stars come out and the stars come out from the ceiling Feel

No Regrets 03:01
I have no regrets Although I’m quite upset If everything that ever happened before never had I wouldn’t be at your door So I have no regrets I have no respect for cause or its effect If everything that’s yet to happen before us Is yet to happen and it’s gonna destroy us Well it’s not happened yet And time and time can feel like your life is a wheel All set out and you turn it day by day And choice is choice even real? Can I change how I feel? Can I choose to go falling through the void? The day that we first met And everything was set A future memory I already knew you Light from your eyes like it was passing right through you Is one I can’t forget I have no regrets

I can't seem to make a friend anymore. But not for lack of people wanting to be my friend… I can't even write a song anymore Not for lack of ideas throwing themselves and piling up and my door I've heard of writer's block but this aint it I'm so aware of all the things I do and say and even think I've heard of depression but it don't fit I'm joyful and participating but I just don't get the bit where some people connect with one another and say now you're like my sister, now you're like my brother I've heard of clarity but not this much I'm so aware of all the things I see and smell and taste and touch I get sobriety but it's too hard When you don't take the edge off you see that it isn't very far Have you ever heard the sound of paper burning in your ears that what happened when I tapered

Twelve minutes from the wishing hours I'd be on my way home, But London don't care bout wild wind or weather Wants to use you while you're on loan I was always red light napping I'd be distant dreaming Of the many lives at sea. The ones who listen cos it really matters And I wished it mattered and was of consequence to me Back-tracking through my life things happen and it forks at every turn Any way the wind blows, following where it goes, every choice relies on what we've done From working on the night clock, sitting in the road block, feeling too close where they make the laws Moving to the north west, playing in a black dress Plotting our unknowing collision course A few seconds to the final flourish at the hotel piano bar And someone's calling for Pink Floyd renditions - should I play or get in my car? If I'd only made a ruling not to keep on pleasing, if I'd had better things to do I thank the lonely times that made this life alter to a life that matters how the clouds were scattered and you Back-tracking through my life things happen and it forks at every turn Any way the wind blows, following where it goes Every choice relies on what we've done From reading all the ghost books, talking to the dead folks, messing with a thing some call The Force Hands across the hemisphere and the path that led us here plotting our unknowing collision course

If the greater we are and the closer we are the stronger we are the greater the attraction. Well, I felt the pull from just one soul across a galaxy of distraction.

In Between some dreams there's this conversation piece and it was haunting and sends me to space when I think of what's between all this vastness of meaning it's other people who push and pull us through this empty playground… Always on my mind, a double dose of haze Busy power days - pulling me away You're calling me sometimes with smooth and dreamy voice When the music played throughout the mist and hope It is not too late, forever waiting breeze You're calling me sometimes we're spiralling down again... At times when we are close, we wonder for a spin Illusion of ideas takes me on a limb You're diving in my arms releasing whisper waves I hold you extra long, collision course again It is not for us - forbidden secret treat You're looking in my soul, making things complete Leaving late one night moon on mountain shining bright, stars were playing - two hearts white-hot spinning. Before two stars collide it's the most beautiful sight, see them falling, spiralling closer It's the pull, it's the motion, trying to keep a steady devotion But the gravity grows with proximity How to keep an orbit? How to keep us spinning in the scene? But the magnitude that these magnet can do Overwhelm the forces, must maintain our current courses And the energy won't lose if we can prove It isn't us but it's the things between us that our love can move.

Tint 03:55
When I travelled through states of emotion I was only ever changing how I feel about you and me baby In the passing of time I was only searching, looking for a moment, just a moment when we could be something. And this warm tint of time for me weighed heavy on my mind And the cold light of day today forgot There’s a time between night and the morning where the fog is still so gloomy and the fire coals are smoking gently There’s a place between land and the ocean where I’m sitting with the notion of the ghost of every one who loved me And the strange state of play where it’s not wrong yet not okay And the lines that you crossed as such are gone And the castles you build yeah they’re still standing by your side But they’re caught in the rise and fall of tide When I travelled through states of emotion I was only ever changing how I feel about you and me… Baby.

In the midst of civilization in the hungry stage of man There was always something occuring, somebody with a plan And the fire was burning white hot heat in their eyes as they would stare And it was something to do with Einstein but it was never really fair And all the laws of attraction work from the massive to the really small And station to station the world was just a marble with which they would roll the ball He said ‘I’ll see you in the ether I’ve got to open all these doors” And she said “I’m not going anywhere but I will see you when it falls.”

I drove to your house in the rain in the night Without a pause, without invite, without a second thought This boy has been called names before This town has been exposed to war These streets are sore from all the strain of all the years Quarters have been formed and been found I’m told the place to hang around I’m told the bad parts to avoid and stay away away I never really thought about it I kind of just felt about it But now that I think about it I feel pretty dumb Give me a town with no history Give me a view that no one has ever seen Give me a town with no history and I’ll find my own way around I’ll make my own map Make my own escape route from your house For when I’ve been so foolish You stood in the rain Looking at me, confused by me I stood in the rain Backing away, cursing my name There were times there were people there were cars there were signs, there were happenings and sightings, I remember something about a carpark. There were stations and shortcuts and ways in and out, there were hiding places and ways around the side. There were plans and permission, abandoned old places where no one was living. Constant complaints, there was protests and heartbreak.

How can I help you? How can I ease you? How can I make it so you’re not so under pressure from yourself? How can I reach you? How can I soothe you? How can I tell you you’re not living in your best world? How can I find you? How can I free you? How can I tell you that it’s all just going to be completely fine? How can *I* help you? How can I lift you? How can I lead when I’m not living in my best world? And all the things I say And all the things I do Suddenly you’re living in another Living in another world Suddenly you’re not so undercover Not so undercover, girl It was always something or the other Something or the other, well I was hoping I could be your lover I could be your lover I could be your other world! How can I help you? How can I heal you? How can I get this message through so that you totally understand? How can I help you? How can I hold you? How can I do this when I’m not living in my best world?

It doesn't really matter if I see him or not It barely makes a difference to me It matters not if we even talk a lot It doesn't make a difference, hardly makes a difference, only nearly makes a difference to me I was counting waves from the back seat when I was playing the passenger I was playing laughing girl that early morning feeling all hazy and lazy from the drugs I took to keep me from throwing up. I dreamed I was waving and sometimes it felt like hello and sometimes it felt like goodbye, but each time I counted them I counted every hello and goodbye back to the backseat. And if I'd just fell asleep well there'd be no fingers furling But that'd hardly change the fact these people waved back The first wave was a man confused the second was a girl on a wall I think maybe she was counting too and three and four and five and six was a fix as they were all on the same school bus, Seven was a lady and it felt like goodbye. The eighth wave was a football save, arms out wide and fingers reaching I count them anyway, some boys get up very very early to practise, so so early to get great. And if I'd just fell asleep well I'd see no celebration But that'd hardly change the way that boy saved the day It doesn't make a difference if I see him or not It doesn't make a difference to me It matters not if we even talk a lot It barely makes a difference, hardly makes a difference, only nearly makes a difference to the way I feel And don't I feel like it's working in the background...

about

This record asks questions. Questions about us, and why we seem to think we have more agency within the laws of physics than we perhaps do. Are we not also attracted to and repelled by things emotionally and socially? Do the physics of us transcend the physical? Stuff like that.
